I didn't even know it was datamined. I simply saw videos of people making theories of who it was before the datamine came out. And I kept it vague saying that "There is a fan theory" not "It has been datamined that"

If you are going to work on a page someone else edited, just revert the edit and say in the log as to why you reverted it that you're gonna work on the page.
