"Traverse the Shattered Realms of the Ascendant Plane in search of the lost Awoken Techeuns."
— Mission description

Shattered Realm: Debris of Dreams was a quest accessible during the Season of the Lost as part of the Shattered Realm activity. It could be accessed via the Ascendant portal in the Awoken branch of the H.E.L.M. The Debris of Dreams area itself mirrors aspects of the Tangled Shore, and is occupied by Scorn. Upon the release of the Witch Queen expansion and the start of the Season of the Risen, the Debris of Dreams was vaulted along with its companion missions, Forest of Echoes and Ruins of Wrath, the Tangled Shore and all seasonal content from both Season of the Lost and the previous three seasons.[1]

TranscriptEdit

The Guardian investigates enemy activity: 'The First Rule'.

Something stirs in the encampment.

The Guardian discovers a couple of raiders staring at a door lock.

The Guardian kills the raiders and unlocks the door. They find several Scorn spectators — including Akaskis the Listener, Kaaskis the Hungerer, and Siirnak the Deepwalker — watching what appears to be an arena battle.

Kaaski the Hungerer flees through a barrier.

Siirnak the Deepwalker escapes to the depths.

Akaskis the Listener and the other Scorn attack the Guardian. They are all defeated.

  • Mara Sov: So, the Scorn stage some sort of ritual combat? This is not of Eliksni culture. Are they... developing their own?
  • Mara Sov: Remove these vermin.

The Guardian tracks down and kills Kaaskis the Hungerer.

The Guardian tracks down and kills Siirnak the Deepwalker.

The Guardian transmits the passcodes acquired from the Scorn to remove the forcefield.

Mara Sov: These Scorn appeared to be in the early stages of developing some form of trial by combat. I am reminded of your Crucible, Guardian. Mockeries of life, sloughing off the skin of their former culture. If the Scorn are learning, changing... what are they becoming?

---

The Guardian investigates enemy activity: 'Refined Power'.

Scorn drilling operations commence.

  • Mara Sov: Scorn, harvesting Ascendant energy with such simple, brute force. They must be stopped.

The Guardians takes the unrefined Ascendant energy to the industrial facility.

  • Mara Sov: It appears these decaying vermin have discovered a means to refine Ascendant energy...

The Guardians charges the Ascendant energy core until it is refined.

The Guardian encounters Riktakal the Unmade, who is overseeing the operation.

The Guardian deposits the Ascendant energy.

A control console flickers to life.

  • Mara Sov: The dark intellect of the Scorn is a cruel reflection of their former lives as Eliksni. But... to have reverse-engineered a process to refine Ascendant energy? They could not have done this on their own.

---

The Guardian found a corsair's cache in the Ascendant Realm.

  • Mara Sov: This is a Corsair wayfinding cache; information on their search for me through the ruins of this place. To imagine my Corsairs looked for me, even here... that they gave their lives while searching through these crooked planes... A queen would not be humbled. I will add their sacrifice to the weight I already bear.

Or alternatively

  • Mara Sov: This data cache was left by one of my Techeuns after the Battle of Saturn. It bears my name... she was trying to reach me through the power of her will. She entered this plane and summoned me... and she succeeded, after a fashion. Rest. Your queen has heard your call.

Or alternatively

  • Mara Sov: This cache holds records of the Harbingers, ancient weapons we set to bear against the Hive god Oryx. When we attacked Oryx's Dreadnaught, three Techeuns and I set the Harbingers upon him. It took all our powers to call forth weapons of such impossible destruction... all for naught. Now, his sister awaits me, languoring in her crystal coffin. A move against her will not succeed if guided by force alone.
