Overlords are massive Vex Hydras seen as the final boss of Vex Invasions after losing subordinate Gate Lords. They coordinate these Invasions and only appear once a large enough threat is detected. Once killed, they drop powerful, Vex-themed gear.

Spawning

The steps needed to spawn an Overlord are unclear. But, there are theories. The general consensus is that killing the Vex Hydra that spawn with the Gate Lords will increase the chance of the Overlord spawning at the end of the activity. There are two waves of Hydra that spawn with the Gate Lord. The first should spawn when the Gate Lord is at full health. The second wave will spawn when the Gate Lord is at a third of it's heath. This is repeated three times. In theory, an overlord will spawn.
