The Nightmare of Sy'ad, the Unending is the Nightmare of a Scorn Abomination that can be found in the Royal Pools aboard the Derelict Leviathan.[1]

Gameplay[edit]

The Nightmare of Sy'ad is one of the Nightmares hiding in an Haunted Alcove in the Royal Pools. When a message that reads "Dark Ether thickens the air..." it means the Abomination's Alcove has become active. This alcove is located on the wall opposite to the Castellum entrance, behind some Egregore formations. If the Alcove is active, a Nightmare Lurker will be found there, and will engage the player. Move deeper into the Alcove to arrive to a small room with three unlit censers on the ground. Approaching these will prompt the player to activate them and "Begin the Summoning Ritual". Light all three, and the Nightmare of Sy'ad will appear.

Sy'ad is a very powerful enemy, and the small size of the area leaves little breathing room for the player. You will almost always be in range of either its Overcharged Ether, or its Ground Slam, which can easily smash you into walls. Furthermore, before the summoning ritual and as long as the boss is present, Nightmare and Scorn reinforcements will constantly spawn, consisting of Major Nightmare Raiders, Corrupted Ravagers and Corrupted Wraiths. These enemies will be an ulterior threat, but killing the Nightmares will make them drop Unstable Essence, which will allow you to deal extra damage to the boss quicker. If you manage to eliminate the Unending before time runs out, you will be awarded the 'Ritual under Shadow' Triumph, and you may collect loot from the chest that spawns.
