Overview
Gameplay
Fanatics are glitched Vex units that seek to infect their opponents with their viscous radiolarian fluid. As they charge toward opponents, they emit loud, glitched screams from their chassis. They resemble normal Vex Goblins, but they move in a jerky, unfocused manner, possess a strange stub-like head and are missing their left arm, with wires coming out of the place where an arm would be.  They will move toward guardians and fire their Slap Rifle, then glow blue and explode if they get too close.
In their first appearance in the Vault of Glass Raid, Fanatics resemble standard Goblins who have been decapitated, and will glow and sparkle green. Upon being destroyed, they will leave behind a green pool. Should a player step into this pool or come into contact with the Fanatic itself, they will be afflicted with the “Mark of Negation” debuff, and only have a few seconds until they are killed by the Templar’s Ritual of Negation.

Gameplay
In Destiny 2, Fanatics will slowly advance toward the player while firing on them with their Slap Rifle and emitting glitched screams. Once they get too close or are damaged enough, they will explode, leaving behind a pool of Radiolaria which damages those who step into it.
Fanatics serve a purpose as cannon-fodder Vex enemies, seeking to explode upon contact with enemy forces. In the Vault of Glass Raid they glow green with the Mark of Negation and attempt to infect Guardians by either exploding upon contact or leaving numerous pools of green for the unwary to step in.

*If a fanatic is wounded but not killed, Finishers can be used on them.  As with Cursed Thralls and Exploder Shanks, Most finishers will send the fanatic flying with a delayed detonation.  This means that fanatics can be used as a sort of makeshift bomb, launched backwards into the ranks of their allies and used to destroy other Vex.
