Evie Calumet was one of the leading theoretical physicists of Earth just prior to the beginning of the Golden Age. She was responsible for discovering and naming the Traveler and was subsequently chosen to participate in the Ares One mission to make contact with it on Mars. However, she was secretly murdered by her fellow crewmember Dr. M. Mihaylova days prior to the mission's launch due to asking questions about Mihaylova's experimental AI.
