With the situation clear, the gaurdian was task by both [[Osiris]] and the Cloud Strider [[Rohan]] to storm The Typhon Imperator, and destroy the Radial Mast before Calus has a chance to link it up with the Veil. However, The herald of the Witness anticipated this and used the Radial Mast as a trap. Upon arriving in the arena where the Radial Mast was kept, Calus appeared before the gaurdian in his psionic form. He mocked the gaurdian, excited that they were going to be "tonight's entertainment" in a final test of strength. He also gloated that this time, he had no riches to give them. Calus then unleashed a horde of [[Taken]] and a few of his shadow legion champion's on the gaurdian. All while he tried to convince the gaurdian to join with him. The gaurdian however ignored Calus's banter, and was able to expose the Radial Mast, but before the gaurdian could destroy it, A cabal sheild surrounded the Radial Mast, preventing the gaurdian from getting to it as Calus sent more taken and shadow legion minions into the arena. The Gaurdian was forced to use a [[Strand]] Anomaly to fend off the rest Calus's remaining forces, but in doing so, rendered the gaurdian vulnerable and exhausted. Recognizing that the gaurdian wouldn't be accepting his offer to join him, Calus sent in one of his commanders, [[Val Bho'kaurl]] to finish off the weakened gaurdian. Calus told the gaurdian that they could not escape Oblivion and that they should embrace their end. But as the emperor watched on, and laughed at how weak and powerless the traveler's chosen warrior was, The gaurdian recieved coordinates inside the room to withdraw to a safe distance. Just then, [[Empress Caiatl]], suddenly arrived in the room while piloting a [[Thresher]] and bombarded the arena, creating an opening which allowed the gaurdian to barley escape. Calus was angered by Caital's intervention, but regardless, the gaurdian still failed in their mission and Calus was able to secure the Radial Mast and prepared to link it to the Veil.

However, Calus's actual attempt to establish a link using the Radial Mast and the Veil failed, Due to the gaurdian's efforts in clearing out the shadow legion fortifications and killing Val' Bor'kaurl. But at the ultimate cost, as Rohan was force to sacrifice himself in order to destroy the Radial Mast.

After this defeat, Calus fell asleep on his throne, and was approached by The Witness yet again, within his dream. The Emperor informed The Witness that his hold over the Veil had been "Temporarily loosened." The Witness then explained that Calus feared loss and that fear was the cause of his failure. Angered by this, Calus began to scold The Witness, on how he had led this invasion with vicious subjugation, broke through their enemies defenses, and claimed the Veil, all because he wanted it. Yet the Witness held the power of the universe within its grasp, yet never decided to do anything with it. This made The Witness furious at calus. And before Calus could finish his little rant, The Witness Angrily Shouted at Calus, Cracking reality around him. The Witness then ordered the emperor to secure the Veil, And that when the time is right, It will create the link between The Veil and The Traveler. Calus became utterly terrified as he look upon the Witness, and begged for it's forgiveness as he began bleeding from his head. He complied with his master's wishes and ensured that The Witness's will shall be done. Calus awoke from his nightmare, and stared at his chalice for a moment, He then angrily crushed it in his hand and then tossed it away. Feeling humiliated and Knowing that he must take matters into his own hands.
