Following Rasputin's sacrifice, the Vanguard and their allies would engage the Black Fleet and the [[Shadow Legion]], servants to the Witness's latest Disciple, [[Emperor Calus|Calus]]. Elsie was present during the battle, overseeing it with the other leaders on the H.E.L.M.. However, despite their efforts and the Traveler actually using its power against the Black Fleet, The Witness subdued it and destroyed most of the Vanguard's forces effortlessly, leaving them helpless as the Shadow Legion was sent to [[Neptune]] to locate and acquire [[The Veil]], a paracausal entity mentioned by Rasputin before his sacrifice. The Guardian and [[Osiris]] hitched a ride to Neptune to prevent Calus from claiming The Veil. They would gain allies in the [[Cloud Strider|Cloud Striders]], [[Rohan]] and [[Nimbus]], and the citizens of the hidden city of [[Neomuna]]. However, despite The Guardian slaying Calus, The Witness succeeded in using The Veil to make a connection with the Traveler by possessing the Guardian's [[The Ghost|Ghost]], allowing it to form a gateway upon it. The Witness and its Black Fleet then entered the gateway, leaving Elsie and the rest of the Coalition leaders unable to follow and helpless in only being able to watch as The Witness had won.
