Notable info:

Spiritual and preemptive co-creator of the Khvostov 7G-0X

"This is the folly of modern combat thinking, Vasili. We are safe, right? We have no need for soldiers; not anymore! And if we ever do again, they will think clearing a jam in an hour acceptable because a book told them so. That is why I am here. I will tell you different."
— Dmitri, Khvostov Field Manual, pg. 17

Dmitri was a human affiliated with the Russian military during the Golden Age. Previously lost to time after the coming of the Darkness, his memory lives on in a scavenged field manual for the Khvostov 7G-series auto rifle, where he modified several instructions to better the seemingly incompetent rifle for his friend Vasili[1].

Personality and Traits

"If Ivonovich gives you trouble, remind him who still has a picture of him in a bear suit. He will know."
— Dmitri, Khvostov Field Manual, pg. 67

Dmitri was a dedicated soldier and an adept weaponsmith. He showed great disdain for the weapons of war created by the governments in a time of peace, considering at least the service rifle of the Russian military to be inept when it came to overall performance. By extension, he believed this impacted morale among his fellow soldiers[2]. Going out of his way, he concocted several modifications for the firearm, including a home-made and potentially corrosive cleaner[3]. Satisfied with his work, he passed the notes on to a fellow soldier.

Legacy

"Best advice a manual will give you: tell the people you love that you love them."
— Dmitri, Khvostov Field Manual, pg. 90

Long after the collapse of the Golden Age, Dmitri's notes were lost to time and scattered about the Cosmodrome of Old Russia, reaching so far as what would later become the Plaguelands. Only after a particular Guardian unearthed a schematic for the aging rifle they first carried aboard a Fallen Ketch belonging to the Splicers of the House of Devils did they begin collecting these pages, which now found themselves being carried by the various horrors of the SIVA-infested winter landscape.

Once the Guardian had completed the collection task, which also included various parts of the Khvostov rifle, Dmitri's notes in conjunction with Shiro-4's weapon expertise would then result in the construction of an entirely new, but familiar rifle, the Khvostov 7G-0X[4].

Trivia

  • Dmitri's notes missing various conjunctions and determiners is a very common trope for Russian-born characters portrayed in pop-culture.
