OverviewEdit

With the return of Titan, the Vanguard recovered its Deputy Commander, Sloane, as well as her new ally: the fugitive Worm Ahsa, who Sloane has established a link with. In order to strengthen this connection and allow Ahsa to speak with them, Fireteams are sent into the depths of the methane sea to recover patches of the mind-linking fungus Egregore, which grows there in coral form. But the forces of Xivu Arath, God of War lurk beneath the waves, ready to jump onto unsuspecting Guardians.

Mission StartEdit

The Plunge, Dive Tank, New Pacific Arcology, Titan

The Fireteam land in the Plunge, 200 meters into the Methane Sea.

  • Lord Saladin: Move out, fireteam.

Or alternatively

  • Zavala: This is Tactical. Dive, green.

Or alternatively

  • Saint-14: Fireteam, Ahsa — Saint-14 has you.

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: Long-girl on deck. Dive time!

The Fireteam each receive one of the offered blessings from Ahsa.

Week 1

The fireteam begin their dive.

  • Zavala: The bulk of Xivu Arath's forces flood into Titan to keep us from cementing a meaningful foothold. Your mission is to push into enemy lines, recover and secure as much Egregore coral as you can at this depth, and then cripple the occupying force.
  • Sloane: Roger that. Guardian, you go left, I go right. If we hit at the same time, they won't know where to focus a counterattack.

Or alternatively

  • Lord Saladin: Fireteam, we've located a high concentration of Egregore coral behind newly drawn enemy lines.
  • Sloane: Same stuff, different day. Can you see us from way up on that Cabal ship, Valus Saladin?
  • Lord Saladin: Yes. Fly like Lady Jolder, and leave nothing in your wake.
Week 3

The fireteam begin their dive.

  • Zavala: Fireteam, Xivu Arath is directing her forces against our extraction operations. Make this dive count.
  • Sloane: The more I commune with Ahsa, the more dangerous these will get. We'll be quick and careful.
  • Zavala: I trust this fireteam to get the job done. Make sure everyone comes back in one piece.

Or alternatively

  • Lord Saladin: Back for another dive, Sloane?
  • Sloane: This dive, the next one, and the one after that. Until it's done. I'm ready to get moving, hear what else Ahsa has to say.
  • Lord Saladin: Good. It's the reasons we carry into the fight that see us through. Yours hold strong.

Or alternatively

  • Saint-14: Dive operation is go. Keep your minds clear. Xivu Arath's attacks do not only live on the field of battle. She stalks our thoughts for doubts like exposed throats.
  • Sloane: You're hearing her, too, huh? Well, I can't imagine "the Saint" has any doubts to prey on. You should be safe.
  • Saint-14: You would be wrong, friend.

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: 'Ey, Thunderguns! How's it feel to be Taken?
  • Sloane: Let's back up. What did you call me?
  • Drifter: You... don't like it?
  • Sloane: Why don't I put my Taken boot up your orifice, and then you can answer both those questions yourself?
  • Drifter: Don't threaten me with a good time, sister. Ha ha!
Week 6

The fireteam begin their dive.

  • Sloane: Commander, I want you to know I'm steady. And I left the sword back at base.
  • Zavala: I don't doubt you, Sloane. But this revelation Ahsa has given us... Between us three... it frightens me.
  • Sloane: Between us... me too.

Or alternatively

  • Lord Saladin: This plan your worm has brought us… is that all she has to offer?
  • Sloane: I'm just as frustrated as you are. I hate the Hive, Saladin. Hate them. You know.
  • Lord Saladin: No point in raging against something we can't change, I suppose. Instead, let's take that fire to our enemies.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: Saint, how are you? Knowing what we know now about Savathûn.
  • Saint-14: Like I have received orders I know are wrong. I do not believe Ahsa lies to us, but... I cannot accept Savathûn is our only option for victory.
  • Sloane: I've followed my fair share of orders that made no sense. Rebelled against them too. I promise this will work. It has to.
  • Saint-14: Yes...

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: Listen up, divers. There're a lot of bad guys out there looking for trouble, and you're heading right into the middle of it. Heads on a swivel. Keep your eyes peeled.
  • Sloane: Secure every sample we can for the long-girl. Then we can send a message to the Hive in a language they'll understand.
  • Drifter: Took the words right out of my mouth, sister!

Mesopelagic Twilight, New Pacific Arcology, Titan

The fireteam makes it to the underwater rig at 1000 meters.
The fireteam plants the Egregore Resonator.
A powerful foe begins to hunts the fireteam.

Darkness InvocationEdit

The Darkness awaits your invocation...

If not invoked

The Darkness lure is sinking...
The Darkness lure is sinks into the deep...

If invoked

Taken blights cover the area.
The fireteam destroy the blights or excise pressurized blights.

Darkness invoked!
  • Xivu Arath: MINE BLADE IS AN INVITATION.

Or alternatively

  • Xivu Arath: TURN THIS FIELD OF FLESH TO AN OFFERING.

Or alternatively

  • Xivu Arath: THE COWARD FLESH BRANDISHES NO BLADE, NO LOGIC, TREASON INCARNATE!

Collect Fossilized CoralEdit

  • Sloane: The pressure down here fossilizes the Egregore — looks like blue stone. Harvest what you can, and I'll keep their main guns off your back.

Or alternatively

  • Zavala: Guardian. Deputy. Scans show high-density fossilizations in your vicinity. Get to work, and expect a hostile response.

Or alternatively

  • Saint-14: Fireteam! Fossilized coral has been reported in that area. Our enemies are sure to try to steal it. So... steal it first.

Festering Anchors arrive, linking with the egregore coral.

Break Egregore-Linked Connections to Harvest

The fireteam defeats the egregore-linked combatants.

Fossils Ready for Extraction

The fireteam extracts the fossilized coral.

Drill Egregore VeinEdit

  • Sloane: OK, partner. Get drilling while I get loud and make a diversion for you.

Or alternatively

  • Zavala: You’ve reached the drill site. Extract everything you can as quickly as you can.

The fireteam powers the drill with nearby fuel cells.

ALERT: Low Fuel!

The drill runs out of power.

  • Lord Saladin: I see a drill running low. Take care of it.

Or alternatively

  • Zavala: Guardian, the drill is showing low fuel.

Or alternatively

  • Saint-14: Refuel needed! Cover the runners!

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: Approaching empty on that drill!

The fireteam repowers the drill.

Defend Egregore DrillEdit

  • Sloane: You're on-site, Guardian. I'll draw away their commander while you get the job done.

Or alternatively

  • Saint-14: There is a unique mutation of Egregore in the coral here. We drill... and our efforts will not go unopposed.

The fireteam move to defend the drill from enemy combatants.

Hostile reinforcements incoming!

If one of the drills are destroyed:

A drill has been destroyed! Hostiles incoming!
  • Zavala: We've lost a drill! Consolidate a defense.

Or alternatively

  • Lord Saladin: Drill offline! Focus up, fireteam.

Or alternatively

  • Saint-14: Machinery down! Take defensive positions!

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: Did my drill just explode? Took three days to build, damn it, ah — that's OK. I'll make another one.

Reclaim Vanguard MachineryEdit

  • Sloane: Get your Ghost on that gear. Let's see how they like a little sabotage.

Or alternatively

  • Lord Saladin: Have your Ghosts disrupt those power stations. We'll seize everything here.

The fireteam’s Ghosts hack into the machines to reclaim them.

Coral SiphonerEdit

  • Sloane: Ahsa can feel a horde of coral nearby. It's been harvested. Draw out whoever did it, and I'll keep reinforcements off your back.

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: Little fish told me the enemy camp has a whole heap of the good stuff round here. How 'bout you check up on that rumor?

The fireteam defeat combatants until a Blade of the Deep arrives.

A Blade of the Deep has spawned!

A Blade of the Deep arrives.
The fireteam defeat all three Blades of the Deep, and lure out the Coral Siphoner.
Festering Brute arrives.

  • Lord Saladin: Priority target is on the field. Neutralize, and secure their haul.

Or alternatively

  • Zavala: That's our target. Strike quickly while Sloane draws off reinforcements.

Or alternatively

  • Saint-14: I recognize that one. They hit one of our drill sites — hit them back.

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: Oh, I can smell that loot from here. Time to bring it home.

The fireteam defeat the Festering Brute.

The Fireteam each receive another one of the offered blessings from Ahsa.
The fireteam continue their dive.

Week 1

The fireteam complete their task in the Twilight depth.

  • Zavala: Glad to have you back in our ranks, Deputy.
  • Sloane: I wouldn't have kept you waiting, sir, but that darn Golden Age suit crapped out on me.
  • Zavala: I suppose you can't be blamed for malfunctioning equipment. Apology accepted.
  • Sloane: Right. Next time I get un-existed, I'll shake it off quicker.
  • Zavala: I'll remember you said that.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: Saladin, what shifted your opinion on the Cabal? You don't strike me as someone who likes to try new things.
  • Lord Saladin: I'd wager it's the same thing that made you trust an outcast worm. The actions of individuals, actions that held to their words. There's a sense of... honor. You build kinship in common cause. others can remind us why we fight... if we can learn to stand beside them.
Week 3

The fireteam complete their task in the Twilight depth.

  • Zavala: How is our mission progressing, Deputy? Have you found any clarity in Ahsa's words?
  • Sloane: Nothing concrete. Like it says in my report, still just fragments. I hope Saint's "all field, no desk" style isn't rubbing off on you?
  • Zavala: [chuckles] No. I read the report, but I like to hear it first hand as well.
  • Sloane: Then you heard it here first. Deputy's recommendation is to stay the course and dive as deep as we need to.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: Hive, Taken, Fallen who never made it off Titan, driven out of their minds. Down here, not much has changed for me.
  • Lord Saladin: I wondered why the Eliksni here flew no banners. You really think nothing has changed, even with Ahsa?
  • Sloane: It's the same fight, Saladin. The pieces move around, the lines inch back and forth, but this still just feels like attrition.
  • Lord Saladin: One of Xivu Arath's most prevalent tactics. But that's all it is. You feel attrition because she imposes it. We will outlast her.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: Now I'm too curious not to ask. What's Xivu digging up for you?
  • Saint-14: The time I wasted. How my choices, my weakness found me on the edge of giving up. Without Osiris — and the Guardian — I would remain lost.
  • Sloane: OK, that resonates with me. She says I'd be nothing without Ahsa. That we're cowards. But I'm here, fighting her to the end.
  • Saint-14: Hers are words she wishes were true.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: So, you want to know what it feels like to be Taken? I'm surprised you haven't tried eating one to "gain its power."
  • Drifter: Yeah. Funny you should, uh, mention that. Didn't "take." Not even a flavor! Oh, relax! I'm joking! Probably. Between friends — can't bind Taken material to living tissue without being the one who "took" it. So... how'd you do it?
  • Sloane: That's between me and Ahsa. Maybe when this is over, I'll let you in on our secret.
Week 6

The fireteam complete their task in the Twilight depth.

  • Zavala: Is it possible Ahsa is wrong? Rasputin proved we can't beat Xivu Arath in a direct conflict, but...
  • Sloane: Zavala, I tried every which way to fight her when Titan went dark. I never managed to put a dent in her plans. Just survive.
  • Zavala: So this is truly it. [sighs] And all that's left is for us to accept it.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: We're making good time heading into this first descent. You know, given everything I've read about the Hive factions eating each other alive… this makes sense.
  • Lord Saladin: Pitting our enemies against each other is always a viable battle plan, but since Savathûn's death, we haven't seen the usual power vacuum. I have a hard time believing the Witch Queen's corpse retains enough power to do much of anything beyond being a trap.

Or alternatively

  • Saint-14: Do we still need these samples, Deputy Commander? Is Ahsa not resting? She has given her message, no?
  • Sloane: I'm hoping to get a better understanding of what she meant. Never hurts to get better context.
  • Saint-14: I see. Then... we continue in the hope that Ahsa has... a better idea.

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: Hey, chief. Suit's leaking from that last tango. Get that patched up before it gets ugly.
  • Sloane: Yeah, thanks. Definitely didn't notice the stream of bubbles before you pointed it out.
  • Drifter: All right. I hear you not needin' my help. But if you ask me… you're playing this like you have a death wish.
  • Sloane: Not for myself. Xivu wants to fight — wants us to prove we're worth fighting. I'm happy to oblige her all the way into the ground.

Or alternatively

  • Xivu Arath: COWARD FLESH WILL BURN.

Or alternatively

  • Xivu Arath: PRAYERS LIKE A CRASHING ROIL OF CRIMSON SEAS!

Refit the ExtractorEdit

  • Sloane: Enemies incoming. We already lost these Guardians. Let's avenge them. Fix that extractor, and I'll pull the bulk of Hive away from you.

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: This team got hit hard. Look around for parts. It's modular; it'll fit back together. Careful, though. Whatever did that is definitely still around.

The fireteam refuels the Extractor, then fixes it with spare wrenches.

  • Lord Saladin: I'm not sure how, but it's working. Now defend this position.

Or alternatively

  • Zavala: That... looks operational. Guardian, hostiles converging on you. Eyes up!

Or alternatively

  • Saint-14: Fixed no problem; now, avenge our comrades who fell here.

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: There, see? Good as new. And not a second too soon. You've got incoming, hero.

Festering Brute arrives.
The fireteam defeats the Festering Brute and defends the Extractor from enemy incursions.

The Fireteam each receive another one of the offered blessings from Ahsa.
The fireteam continue their dive.

Week 3

The fireteam complete their task in the Midnight depth.

  • Zavala: I know Xivu Arath is a master tactician... but I'm having trouble understanding her approach on Titan.
  • Sloane: From the time I spent here... coming after Ahsa's part strategy, part vendetta. The Hive see Ahsa as a coward. Heretic. She tried to stop them from finding the other worms. It's not enough to banish her. She has to die.

Or alternatively

  • Lord Saladin: You're moving out of standard transmat range now. Quick response fireteam support unavailable. You're alone from here.
  • Sloane: Trudging along the sea floor has been churning up a lot of memories. A lot of... long nights in the open darkness. Almost didn't come back a few times. Almost didn't want to.
  • Lord Saladin: But your actions led you to this point. Those near misses are lessons learned. Now, you have that benefit.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: I think you're right, about those words being what Xivu wants to be true. It won't happen while I hold Titan.
  • Saint-14: When I crusaded against the Eliksni, I held a very similar idea. Osiris too had a singular mind about the Vex. We lost ourselves in these obsessions; we lost moments that truly mattered.
  • Sloane: With all due respect, Saint, we are very different people.
  • Saint-14: Osiris warned me you would be resistant.
  • Sloane: Again, all due respect, but Osiris is a damn know-it-all.
  • Saint-14: Yes... well, that is because he knows many things.

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: You're in a sour mood. Xivu's still digging into your head, isn't she?
  • Sloane: [sighs] Indulging your stupid questions is a contributor, but... yeah. Seems to be going around. Ahsa blocks most of it out. I'm sure she's having a field day with whatever's in your rear view.
  • Drifter: Yeah, she's sure trying. But here's my secret: ain't nobody that can make me feel worse than me. Heh... trust. Besides, you're not the only one with an ace up your sleeve. I've got a beam of moonlight keepin' me going.
Week 6

The fireteam complete their task in the Midnight depth.

  • Sloane: Síocháin and I were talking, and... we're both concerned this dive might be running a little late for an old man like you, sir.
  • Zavala: Yes. Targe relayed your Ghost's findings... and urged me to find a replacement to run Tactical. That won't be happening.
  • Sloane: I can hear it in your voice, Zavala. When was the last time you slept through the night?
  • Zavala: The night before Titan returned to Sol. But there's always tonight to try again.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: Do you really think Ahsa would lead us into a trap, after all this?
  • Lord Saladin: Not on purpose. But we're nearing an end. This is when we have to be at our most cautious. One false step is all it takes. We die fighting, or survive the end to lay down our arms and become something else. Those are the only two options I can see.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: Saint, I know what Savathûn did to you — to Osiris. Thank you... for understanding.
  • Saint-14: Do not thank me for something I cannot do. But I will stand by my friends to do what is right. Even when it is difficult.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: Descending into the final shelf now. Let's see how many Hive Xivu has left to throw at us, Guardian.
  • Drifter: You got me scratchin' my head a bit. Heh, still going hard, even after that close shave with Big Blue.
  • Sloane: Ahsa and I have a stronger bond than ever now, and I have my fireteam around me. Xivu Arath had her shot, and she blew it.

  • Xivu Arath: FACE ME AND FALL UPON MINE SWORD.

Coral DevourersEdit

  • Sloane: Guardian, expect a gunfight ahead. Looks like they're carrying coral. Must be our lucky day.

Or alternatively

  • Lord Saladin: Fireteam, you're about to find contact. Enemy force carries stolen mission-critical resources. Recover them.

Taken, including Coral Devourers, arrive contaminating the coral samples.
The fireteam cleanses the corrupted coral by purifying them in a tsunameter.

Egregore coral purified!

Wrathful Interlopers arrive.

Interlopers approaching!

The fireteam defeats the Wrathborn Interlopers, and resumes purifying coral.

  • Zavala: Take back those stolen samples, and deposit them for decontamination.

Or alternatively

Egregore SecuredEdit

The fireteam secure the egregore.

Egregore coral sample secured!
  • Sloane: This sector is crawling with Hive and Taken. Let's head down and dodge some of this heat.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: Almost like we planned it, Guardian. Let's sink a little more and do it again.

Or alternatively

  • Lord Saladin: The only remaining sites in this sector are in the deeper shelves. Descend, and keep your weapons close.

Or alternatively

  • Lord Saladin: Well executed, fireteam. Your next objective rests at a lower depth, well behind enemy lines. Move carefully.

Or alternatively

  • Zavala: Enemy counterattack converging on this sector. You've been cleared to continue operations at a lower depth to evade their advance.

Or alternatively

  • Zavala: Extractions sites in this sector are all secure. Let's press out a little farther. Fireteam, you are clear to descend.

Or alternatively

  • Saint-14: Transmat collection receiving. Coral secure. You are clear to dive, and Saint-14 is with you.

Or alternatively

  • Saint-14: OK, fireteam, reload and descend once more. No more easy fights, I think. Be ready.

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: Long-girl funk fungus in the bag. Next stop: ha ha! Dive, dive, dive!

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: Way I see it, best defense is shooting first. So go on and push ahead. Should buy you a few minutes before the bad guys realize where you went.

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: You make a mighty fine team down there. Let's keep it going. Slip the bad guys, dive a little deeper, and fatten our haul.

Final ConfrontationEdit

If not completed before time runs out:

The powerful foe finds the fireteam.

  • Sloane: Damn! Watch out, Guardian. You’ve got incoming.

Or alternatively

  • Lord Saladin: It's just you and them now. Be the one left standing.

Or alternatively

  • Zavala: They’ve found you! Guardian, the haul is secure, and you are clear to fight your way out.

Or alternatively

  • Saint-14: They've caught you; now all that is left is to fight.

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: Hey now, looks like you're getting reeled in. Well, I'm running this op, and… I say, weapons free.

If completed before time runs out:

The fireteam each receive the final blessing, Ahsa's Empowerment.

Rallying will bestowed!
  • Sloane: Egregore samples accounted for — Guardian, we're clear to engage their commander.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: Collection tanks are full and safe. Time to turn the tables.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: All Egregore samples are safe in containment. Ready to punch a hole outta here?

Mission CompleteEdit

Week 1

The fireteam extracts the final haul of egregore coral.

  • Zavala: You're done, fireteam. All objectives secure, and all targets eliminated. Establishing transmat relay.
  • Sloane: You've got a good team on this, sir. Even the Drifter.
  • Zavala: I agree. You can rely on any one of them to see this through. [takes a deep breath] Even the Drifter.

Or alternatively

  • Lord Saladin: Dive accomplished. Sloane, settle a bet for me. You fought in Twilight Gap, did you not?
  • Sloane: And helped build the Wall with Shaxx and Saint before that. What's wrong, memory getting fuzzy in your old age?
  • Lord Saladin: It's all one long fight to me. The individual skirmishes start to blend together. I remember the losses.
  • Sloane: Yeah. Sure felt like the whole world was against us in those early days. Well, I remember you and Osiris coming around occasionally with the Iron Lords. Never did help us with the Wall, though...
  • Lord Saladin: We helped hold it after it was built. I've always been more soldier than mason. And now I owe Saint money.
Week 3

The fireteam extracts the final haul of egregore coral.

  • Zavala: That Wizard you defeated... Xivu Arath howled their name. "Kudazad". I remember that from an old report.
  • Sloane: Still have a mind like steel trap, sir. Kudazad was a field captain for Savathûn before Titan went dark.
  • Zavala: And now they serve Xivu Arath? [sucks in breath] Taken, Scorn, Wrathborn... she folds all conquered adversaries into her armies, doesn't she?
  • Sloane: Not all of them. Just the strongest, or those she's looking to use as a weapon. Not just to fight, but to hurt. Psychologically. She's defacing everything Savathûn touched on Titan. When it comes to her sister, it seems... more emotional than strategic.

Or alternatively

  • Lord Saladin: You've cleared all known extraction points in the sector. Surface and debrief, fireteam.
  • Sloane: Do you think your new Psion friends could help move this process along, Saladin?
  • Lord Saladin: I brought that question to them as well. They've expressed a great deal of concern about melding with a worm.
  • Sloane: They don't trust her.
  • Lord Saladin: Trust isn't the issue. Their concern is safety. Your bond and Taken affliction ground you. But for them, it would be more like touching a live wire. Ahsa's connection to the Darkness would open them to others who could be watching... assuming it doesn't kill them outright.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: Saint? I've heard the stories, but... what actually happened to Osiris?
  • Saint-14: I only know what he has told me... and that I have never seen Osiris soundly beaten. Xivu Arath drew him into a trap. He slaughtered Hive that she took power from. His Light was not enough. He wonders if Strand would have been.
  • Sloane: I saw her projection on Titan before Ahsa found me. How do we fight something like that?
  • Saint-14: I do not know. Any way we can.

Or alternatively

  • Drifter: So, you and the long-girl had each other's backs the whole time Titan was in the dark, huh?
  • Sloane: Not the whole time, but... most of it, yeah. She found me in a bad spot—helped me out.
  • Drifter: Free of charge, too. Sounds like a real friend to me. Wonder what she's getting outta that deal.
  • Sloane: [sighs] You too? She gets to live. She gets to stand against something she's never been able to fight.
  • Drifter: That's a powerful purpose. I dig it.
Week 6

The fireteam extracts the final haul of egregore coral.

  • Sloane: I think we're clear for extraction over here.
  • Zavala: Noted. Dispatching a transmat beacon.
  • Sloane: Commander… the menu's still the same at Rehnpeir's, right?
  • Zavala: The menu's had some additions... to accommodate our Eliksni allies. But yes, it will be the same as you remember it. I'll have Saint call in an order.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: I read the report on Rasputin. Makes me wonder if there will be a place for… people like us when this is all over.
  • Lord Saladin: People like us?
  • Sloane: Fighters. Warriors. If I'm aiming to keep on living the day after the Witness bites a bullet...
  • Lord Saladin: Caiatl speaks of similar apprehensions. She holds it noble to fight for a time one may never see. Whether a place exists for you there is entirely within your own making. Peace isn't a lack of purpose. It's an opportunity to define one.

Or alternatively

  • Saint-14: Transmat buoy deployed. Sloane, I am sorry. I did not ask how this news has affected you. I know you hold no love for the Hive.
  • Sloane: Oh, uh, that's — that's sweet. I'm fine, Saint. I'm... confused. And a little angry, sure, but... I'm fine. I won't tell you it's gonna be OK, or that I know how this will end, but... I can tell you that I believe Ahsa knows what she's asking, and she would not ask it lightly.
  • Saint-14: Ah, good.

Or alternatively

  • Sloane: OK, Drifter, I've had a question burning in my head for a while now...
  • Drifter: You're all curious why I volunteered. The, uh, "meretricious rogue"? I looked it up. Distance means when the past comes knocking, there ain't no one nearby to be collateral. But I can't stay away anymore. Can't stand still, either.
  • Sloane: Yeah. Easier to keep moving.

GameplayEdit

Deep Dive is a three-person activity accessed from the H.E.L.M. Matchmade and non-matchmade modes are available. Teams will have to navigate corridors submerged in methane, using bubbles on the way to restore their pressure and avoid getting crushed. Eventually, they will reach the Mesopelagic Twilight, where the first encounter will take place. Completing this encounter within the time limit will allow the fireteam to move on to the Bathypelagic Midnight, and then to the Abyssopelagic Abyss, with increasing power difference and one added Modifier. Beating the Abyss encounter or failing any encounter will pull the fireteam into the Asphyxiator's Hollow, where they will fight the final boss and will be allowed to open a chest upon its defeat, whose contents improve the more encounters have been beaten.

There are several different encounters, which can have small variations based on the enemy race taking part in them, either the Hive, Taken or Fallen. Most encounters can take place at any of the depths with two exceptions: the Refit the Extractor encounter can only occur at the Bathypelagic Midnight, and the Coral Devourers encounter can only occur at the Abyssopelagic Abyss.

Ahsa's GiftEdit

Before beginning the dive into any depth, players will be allowed to choose one of two "gifts" from the Worm. These are represented by a small dripping ball of Taken-like energy. The gifts can range from protection against an enemy rank to increasing the damage and recharge of abilities. Gifts are permanent until the end of the activity.

List of Gifts
  • Ahsa's Rallying Will: Refills all abilities and ammo. Heavy ammo capacity increases by 50%. Incoming elemental damage decreases by 10%.
  • Airborne Enhancement: Increases damage while airborne by 10%.
  • Arc Enhancement: Increases damage from all of your Arc weapons and abilities by 10%.
  • Boss Protection: Take 20% less damage from bosses.
  • Class Ability Accelerant: Class ability recharge rate is increased by 300%.
  • Energy Enhancement: Increases Energy slot weapon damage by 10% and increases passive Special ammo regeneration.
  • Grenade Accelerant: Grenade ability recharge rate is increased by 500%.
  • Grenade Enhancement: Increases grenade damage by 10%.
  • Heavy Enhancement: Increases damage for all Power weapons by 10%.
  • Kinetic Enhancement: Increases Kinetic weapon damage and reload speed by 10%.
  • Melee Ability Accelerant: Melee ability recharge rate is increased by 300%.
  • Miniboss Enhancement: Increases damage to all minibosses by 10%.
  • Minor Protection: Take 20% less damage from rank and file combatants.
  • Precision Enhancement: Increases precision damage from all of your weapons by 13%.
  • Shields: Shield regeneration is increased by 50%.
  • Solar Enhancement: Increases damage from all of your Solar weapons and abilities by 10%.
  • Super Accelerant: Super recharge rate is increased by 300%.
  • Void Enhancement: Increases damage from all of your Void weapons and abilities by 10%.

Wrathful PredatorsEdit

During any of the depth encounters, glowing enemies called Wrathful Predators will appear. Defeating these foes will add 15 seconds to the encounter's timer.

Pressure TrialEdit

When an encounter begins, a small Taken ball called a Lure will appear floating somewhere in the area. If all fireteam members interact with this ball, a secondary objective will activate. Completing this objective begins a Pressure Trial, which will add more enemies and extra objectives to the encounter. Completing a Pressure Trial rewards extra coral, and improves the final chest's rewards by one tier. Thus, to get to the maximum tier of 7, a fireteam needs to complete all Pressure Trials.

The WhetstoneEdit

In the areas between and within the Twilight and Midnight, one can find three Hive statues. If a player has acquired all three planet-exclusive Exotic Fish, they can place them in each statue to activate a special encounter in the Bathypelagic Midnight. After completing the encounter there, the players can enter a door to the side that leads to the Wrathborn Sink. Navigating this area will bring them to fight several Taken led by Khull, Executioner Knight.

After Khull is made to retreat, all the Gifts they had acquired will deactivate, though the weekly modifiers remain, and a ten minute timer will begin counting down. Players must defeat Khull in order to progress to the next area, where they must once again fight several Taken, now led by a Tormentor named Omen, Blade of the Black Terrace. Completing this secret encounter awards players the Wicked Implement Exotic Scout Rifle, as well as a Triumph. Finding all the seven Pyramid Spikes hidden in the labyrinth awards another Triumph.

RewardsEdit

Legendary weapons and armor can be obtained randomly by completing matches of Salvage, Deep Dives, and rank-up packages. They also can be focused at H.E.L.M. for the price of a Deep Engram, Legendary Shards, and   Glimmer. Using a Deep Dive Key on the bonus chest grants a chance at better rewards, including high-stat seasonal armor and Exotic armor pieces.

TriviaEdit

  • Several of the enemies encountered in the activity have seemingly erroneous names:
  • If time runs out, the final boss determines the portal effect is used to pull the fireteam:
    • J4W-S will use a transmat effect.
    • Kudazad will use a hive portal effect.
    • Kelgorath will use a taken portal effect.
