Nirwen was a Warlock and a member of the Iron Wolves. They were present, and presumably fell during the Battle of Site-6, a harrowing conflict in the Plaguelands that saw the end of the Iron Wolves, and the near-extinction of the Iron Lords. At some point prior to Nirwen's demise, the notorious Warlock Osiris studied under the tutelage of both them and Felwinter. In spite of their death, Lord Saladin Forge commemorates their life through the Iron Banner. Rewarding Guardians with two different weapons and a Warlock Bond ornament in the fallen's namesake, one is a Pulse Rifle with an exceptional reload speed and stability rating, and the other is a burst-fire sidearm commissioned by SUROS.
