Biography[edit]

"Anyway, I… I understand why you left. You've done so much good here. I just wanted to say that, in case…"
— Devi, while meeting with her bother Pranav on Earth

Following the Battle of Saturn, the Reef was invaded by the Hive. During the chaos of the invasion, Devi briefly went missing but was eventually located, and went on to survive the entire Taken War.[4] Despite her experience, Devi nor any of the other remaining Paladins were appointed as Regent in the absence and presumed deaths of Queen Mara Sov and Prince Uldren Sov following the battle, with the honor instead going to Queen's Wrath Petra Venj, a fact which caused concern and jealously amongst some of the Paladins.[5] Devi was among those who eulogized Uldren, commenting that the Reef grieved for him and would remember him as a voice of peace.[6]

After access to the Dreaming City was restored and the Taken curse afflicting it was discovered, the Awoken of the Reef began welcoming back Awoken who had previously left the Reef for Earth or other endeavors in order to bolster their numbers and retake the City. Devi sought out her brother Pranav at the valley on Earth he had defended for hundreds of years after leaving the Reef and requested he return with her. She playfully chided him for sucking in his cheeks as he contemplated what to do and commented it made him look stupid, causing him to suck them further in and ask if she was ashamed of him. Quickly getting serious, Devi said she would never be ashamed of him. As she looked out across the valley Devi told him that she now understood why he had left and that she was proud of what he had accomplished. Preparing to leave, Devi began to comment that she had wanted him to know that in case she perished in the upcoming fight. However, her brother stopped her and stated that he understood why she had stayed in the Reef, and that he would now join her there if Petra would have him. Overjoyed, Devi hugged her brother and explained that while young, Petra was a good commander and would would take him back, even if he was an Earth-lover.[7]
